There are a few good places you can download lots of free e-books – Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Google Play.
Amazon Free Kindle Books – If you are not a US user, you will get redirected to the appropriate Amazon regional website. First you need to download a free reading app for your tablet, smartphone, or computer. If the download link for your PC app doesn’t seem to work, try the “Download from Windows Store” link.
Barnes & Noble Free Nook Books – For Barnes & Noble, you must provide a credit card to register to your account in order to unlock the books’ DRM (Digital Rights Management). Free reading apps are also available for your tablet, smartphone, or computer.
Google Play Top Free in Books – You can save books for offline reading so you can read them without an Internet connection using the Google Play Books app Google Play Books app on Android or your computer using the Google Play Books app for Google Chrome.
There are also places you can find copyright expired books like the Project Gutenberg.
Project Gutenberg – Project Gutenberg offers more than 46,000 free ebooks in the format of HTML, EPUB, Kindle, and plain text. All their ebooks may be freely used in the United States because most are either not protected by the U.S. copyright law, or their copyrights have expired. However, some may not be free of copyright in other countries, readers outside of the United States might want to check the copyright laws of their countries before downloading or redistributing their ebooks.
If you are looking for something more recent, there are e-books lending networks such as BookLending or Lendle.
Lendle – Amazon allows for lending of Kindle books to people you know. Lendle bridges the gap so that you can also lend and borrow from people you donโt know. Since Amazon only allows book lending for U.S. customers. As such, Lendle does not support users outside of the United States.
BookLending – Similar to Lendle, BookLending is another website that matches lenders and borrowers of Kindle ebooks.
If you visit the above two sites, you will notice that they are also Amazon affiliate websites. Sometimes, if you really want a book, but you could not borrow or download it for free, you might end up buying it right? ๐
